Juvederm Filler

How does it work?

Juvederm is a crystal-clear gel form of hyaluronic acid, a substance that occurs naturally in the body. Hyaluronic acid holds water, hydrating and returning youthful volume to the skin. As we get older the production of our natural hyaluronic acid diminishes. A simple injection of filler replenishes the lost volume and improves your looks by enhancing your facial profile, creating fuller lips and smoothing out lines and wrinkles.

How is Juvederm administered?

Most injection treatments are undertaken after local anaesthetic has numbed the area. Once the anaesthetic is working the product is administered by a series of injections to the area being treated.

Where can Juvederm be applied?

Juvederm has been effectively used to enhance the fullness of lips and to fill upper lip lines, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, glabellar furrows (frown lines) and depressed scars.

What should I expect to see after treatment?

You will notice an immediate effect. However the final result may not be apparent for two or three days until swelling and bruising settle. Most people however have no swelling the day after treatment. Individual results vary and are not guaranteed.

Is Juvederm safe?

Juvederm has been safely used in over a million treatments worldwide. It is not derived from an animal source, so the potential for an allergy is remote. Being non-permanent it is absorbed over time it is your choice when to have further treatment to maintain the effect.

Are there any side effects?

Side effects of this treatment are rare. Slight bruising and occasionally a droopy eyelid may occur. In extremely rare cases patients have developed an allergy to the treatment, while others have shown resistance, i.e. it causes little or no effect. This product adds volume too your lips and skin, rejuvenating your appearance without affecting your natural expression.

Botulinum Injections

Treatment with Clostridium Botulinum gradually produces muscle relaxation, thereby dramatically reducing wrinkles caused by age, sun and smoking, especially crow’s feet, frown (glabellar) furrows and forehead lines. It is non-permanent and may enhance and rejuvenate your appearance all without surgery! The same medicine can also be used to stop uncomfortable, embarrassing sweat under arms and on the hands and brow.

How does it reduce facial wrinkles?

By using facial muscles throughout a lifetime, the skin is creased in areas of greatest use. The aging process causes the slowdown of collagen and elastin production in the skin so that as we get older, these areas of overuse become damaged and the lines become permanent. By reducing the movement of muscles in these areas, the skin stops being creased and is allowed to recover, causing the lines to soften or even fade away.

In the areas treated, the muscles are temporarily relaxed (always reversible), during which time the subconscious habit of overusing these muscles may be broken. Many people feel forehead tension and stress reduced.

How does it stop perspiration?

The sweat glands are inactivated leaving you dry and fresh. Many people have suffered years of socially embarrassing excessive perspiration. Treatment, which usually last 6 to 12 months, can dramatically improve self-confidence.

How often should treatments be repeated?

For the first couple of years, frequent treatments are required to re-educate the facial muscles and four treatments are optimal in the first year. Thereafter, treatments should be less frequent until a yearly maintenance treatment maybe all that is required. Treatments for perspiration last up to twelve months.

How long has this therapy been in use and how safe is it?

As long ago as 1978, it was used in the NHS as treatments for patients with eye squints and is now used to treat many conditions. Its use in cosmetic therapy is well established. In the doses used for cosmetic purposes it has a high margin of safety. Its effect is not permanent and will therefore wear off in time.

What happens during treatment?

You will be asked to use certain muscles to observe how they work. A very fine needle is used to inject the appropriate areas. This may cause some slight but brief discomfort that normally resolves quickly. For some days after treatment you may feel like there is sellotape across your forehead. The treatment starts to take effect over 4 to 14 days but this may vary. The effects will begin to wear off after 2 to 6 Months and are usually gone by 4 to 9 months, again individuals will vary.

Dermaroller

Genuine Dermaroller™ Therapy™ can significantly improve the appearance of:

  • Acne scars
  • Aged and sun damaged skin
  • Facial and décolleté lines and wrinkles
  • Stretch marks

Genuine Dermaroller™ Therapy™ provides advanced micro-medical skin-needling, a procedure that stimulates the skin to regenerate and repair itself naturally and safely, creating smoother, brighter, healthier, younger-looking skin.

How It Works

Your practitioner will use a Genuine Dermaroller™ medical device to produce thousands of micro-medical needle-columns in the skin. Each column will penetrate into the dermis of the skin and will be approximately 0.1mm in width. The column will close rapidly enabling the skin to recover quickly - often in the same day. Your practitioner will use a topical anaesthetic to numb the skin making the procedure comfortable; it will normally take up to 30 minutes for the topical anaesthetic to work and 20 - 30 minutes for the Genuine Dermaroller™ Therapy procedure.

After a Genuine Dermaroller™ Therapy™ procedure your body will start to naturally regenerate and repair the skin, working below the surface in the dermis. This takes time as new collagen is formed, new skin cells are generated and blood supply is enhanced. It can take up to 6 weeks before visible signs of regeneration and repair are seen and the process will continue over the following months, providing you with a natural and long lasting enhancement.

Your practitioner will normally recommend that your Genuine Dermaroller™ Therapy™ consists of a series of three Genuine Dermaroller™ procedures with approximately 6 weeks between them.

In the treatment of acne scars and other types of scarring it may be necessary for your practitioner to extend your Genuine Dermaroller™ Therapy™, carrying out up to five procedures.
